1.why is suply chain strategy so important?
supply chain management has been both an important and a productive
aim of corporations. By working to coordinate the production, shipment, and delivery of the goods
required to meet their business needs, companies have been able to more easily meet the demands of
their customers. However as the 21st century unfolds, supply chain management is evolving into what
many experts refer to as synchronized supply chains.
With synchronized supply chains, the overall goal is the same as with traditional supply chain
management. There are three key differences, however. One is that companies work with their vendors
in order to coordinate their processes and to achieve simultaneous production. Another difference is
that the Internet and other types of technology are incorporated into the process to make those
processes run smoother and more efficiently. Finally, the buying organization will need to hire, train,
and restructure their workforce in order to be able to accommodate this type of supply chain
management.
Even though most companies do realize that better supply chain management can benefit their bottom
line, too many of them are leery about pursing modernization and efficiency fully. However, the value
exists for companies who wish to make the changes necessary to achieve it. Some companies that have
pursued supply chain modernization and upgrades have been able to lower costs and boost profits by
tens or hundreds of millions of dollars.
One way to achieve this increased value is the compression strategy. Compression allows the processes
between the buyers and vendors to be streamlined. There are a number of ways this can be
accomplished, and the businesses involved must do their research to determine which are most
effective for their needs. Two of the possibilities are: allowing assemblers to be responsible for
maintaining the inventory so distributors only focus on making sales, and the second is eliminating the
distributor channel altogether so that the assembler would be responsible for putting together the
product and for making the sales.

2.how to develop a supply chain strategy?
the first of all to develop supply chain strategy is understanding the business strategy, how the enterprise choose to compete. this is important not only for the obvious reason of working off the "same playbook",but also for the reason that it forces the supply chain operation to see itself as a customer facing entity serving the competitive goals of the enterprise not merely an operational department.
the next step is assess the extended supply chain its mean , conduct a detailed, realistic assessment of the capabilities that exist within the organization and even the extended supply chain.
the next step is develop an implementation plan, its mean directly tied to the business strategy ,highly specific as to enablers and metrics, and with a defined set of implementation requirements and contingencies.
the last step is development considerations its mean cooperate and collaborate with your partners throughout the development process remember to include your supply chain partners. while you don't necessary need to divulge the full details of your strategy ,you can certainly communicate how you would like to do business.

3.what are the differences that you have experience in buying a product through physical retail store and an online store . what are the differences in their supply chain strategy?

in physical store the product that we want often already ready stock at the store but in an online store the product no ussually ready stock. also for physical retail store there are a tangible product that we can interact with, but in online store the product is intangible so to buy the product i more prefer buy in physical retail store than an online store because i can look the product directly, but if the product is only in online store i will buy it online.
the differences in their supply chain strategy is while a physical retail store the product to distribute to the customer is already there so the strategy is just to promote and distribute it to the customer, and for online store the strategy is give guarantee and privacy policy to the product that they will sell so to distribute it to customer will be more easy because the customer already get trust with that store.
